Spread your blog world to the mobile mass

October 18th, 2007 Posted in mobile feed

Nowadays, more and more people are using their mobile devices to surf the web. Granted that most are just searching for ringtones and java games, but the trend of surfing the rest of the mobile web world is going up.

It’s not just mobile phones I am talking about. There are PDAs, PocketPCs and other network devices. Even my Nintendo DS is able to surf the web using the DS Browser by Opera. So there quite a lot of untapped potential traffic for your site in the mobile arena.

Tools to use

skweezer screenshotSkweezer is a free service that optimizes Web pages for mobiles devices. You can view on your desktop what a mobile version of your site will look like.

Ready.mobi is an excellent site to test the readiness of your site or page. There are tests like Dotmobi compliance tests, size, speed, etc. to show how ready is your site. I did the test and sad to say, I fail miserably.  But if I show my mobile site from Winksite, I passed with flying colors. This shows you still need to build a mobile site to display your content properly.

Now, if you are on WordPress, you are in luck. There are 2 plugins that might help you display will on mobile devices.

I have not test them yet, so I am not sure of its usefulness. If you have tested them, drop me a email or comment to tell me about it.
