Is it worthwhile to write guest post?
If you ask me this question last month, I would have poo poo the question. Then, I am still struggling with coming up with topics ideas, writing, WordPress theme handling, driving traffic, blogging platform and many other stuff, that I almost suffer a burn out. I simply cannot imagine writing for others even though gurus like Chris Garrett and Leo Babauta give it a thumbs up.
So I am cruising now?
Not by a far mile. There are stills tons to do to maintain a blog everyday, but there are some differences now.
- I write faster now as the writing process becomes clearer, though I would like to optimize it more.
- The template is more or less stable now (until I change it again). No FTP-ing the server everyday. No adding codes to the template to customize it. No installing plugins here, there, everywhere.
- I do some future posting, so I have a reserve.
- Using tools like FireFox and Windows Live Writer has help me a lot.
Currently, I have only written 2 guest post. A post about Preezo at Ghacks.net and a post on RAW format at DSLRblog.com. So is it really worthwhile? Other then a small spike in traffic when the articles came out, the best thing is reaching out to other audiences when I cannot do so on small blog loke mine.
I would be very happy if I have 3 comments on my blog. But over at DSLRblog, on the first day there are 10 comments and I believe more is coming in. There is just a great sense of satisfaction. Ok, I am rambling now. I just want to get this good feelings out.
I say go try it if you have the time and opportunity, the benefits might overcome any doubts you have.

The best thing about guest posting is connecting and networking. Even on heavily visited blogs like copyblogger or problogger the traffic I get is not the reason I do it

Thanks for the dslrblog post, it has certainly gone down well
