Holy Shit! Start your .info buying again!

Wow. I have not dabble with domain buying recently until I need to renew my domain yesterday.
Went to Godaddy and all the dot info (.info)domains is now $0.99. As cheap as a song on Itunes.
Well, I think I will let go of all the rubbish domains I have and buy a new batch of .info domain to play with again.
With almost one year of experience bumping around on the web, I think I can choose better names this time.
And hope to make better use of them.
Not sure when this deal is expiring, so if you have any interest at all to host your own domain, now is the time to own a www.yourname.com .

I use Directi and they had it at 1.39 USD for long time , however the bad part is they don’t allow any renewals at the good price *sighs*

yeah same here, no renewal at “good” price…so I only keep domains I develop after one year.

Yeah, you can almost always get a .info for cheap.
They tend to have a bad reputation though because they are frequently used, since they are so cheap, as throwaway domains to do illegal/wrong activity.
I still need to buy my name, if for no other reason then to keep someone from buying it and using it

I didn’t expect that the price could reach that level. Thanks for sharing, I’ll recommend this to my friend, he’s interested to have his own domain and this is already a good offer from Godaddy.

I have just started getting into the world of the web and I am slowly finding that it goes deeper than any book can show…at least the books I know about. What I was thinking about doing was signing up a domain for godaddy and then getting hosting from bluehost or webelocity. does this sound right for starting my first webpage?

[...] I was saying last time about renewal of my old domains, I finally did renew the domain that I think worth keeping. In addition to that, I bought three new [...]

@dmarcus - That is exactly what I am doing, even down to the Bluehost part. Just start slow and carry on from there. Good Luck!

I always end up buying .info….all the .coms are over…I think infos will be up and roaring very soon…

While this might be a bargain for affiliate marketers, we who have real website will gladly pay more for .com.

oh thanks for that info. i think i got to buy some .info domains again.

@A collecting fool - Would you rather have fool.info or acollectingfool.com?
That’s my point. It is also good for personal website where your name is gone for .com amd .net

Hold on to your butt. Recently read that you’ll be able to use any - let me repeat that - ANY extension on your url. Example: morganwrites@sbclgoal.xyz - or whatever.
Suspect this is going to cause a feeding freenzy!

ICANN have apparently been considering opening up the domain name suffix market. In the near future you may have http://www.myblog.blog or http://www.mystore.shop etc etc…

I assume this is just a big deal due to it’s sudden price drop? Other than that, is there any real significance of owning a .info domain?

well its expensive i know today about it

Thanks for the heads up. But Blogmunch is right. It is better to have .com. So if you can, I would recommend keeping your old urls and then buying the others too and trying both. That way, if the .infos don’t work you didn’t really lose anything. And if the .infos take off, you can come back here and say “I told you so!”

.info domains are ‘throwaway’. I have a notion Go0gle doesn’t rate them as highly, but y’cant beat the price.
