Blog Action Day - Take actions for the environment
If Al Gore can win a Nobel Peace Prize for educating to the mass about global warming with the movie “An Inconvenient Truth”, imagine what impact 15,000+ blogs writing about the environment can do.
Yes, that’s the aim of Blog Action Day. On this day 15th Oct 2007, all bloggers that have sign up for Blog Action Day will write about one important issue.
Our Environment.
I will play my part by writing about what I observe around Singapore regarding the environment.There has been some irregular climate changes in Singapore these past few years.
- Rising sea levels causing floods; mangrove swamps depleted
- Warmer temperatures leading to more aircon usage; more energy demand
- Irregular patterns of rain; difficulties in planning water resources
So everyone must play our part in preserving the environment. And I can do this by:
- Using energy saving bulbs instead of fluorescence, halogen bulb
- Reuse water from washing vegetables to water plants
- Reduce aircon usage (quite tough, but I will try)
- Drive less, ride bicycle for short trips
- Recycle plastic bottles and waste paper
